First let me start out by saying we have a 45 minute drive to Romp n’ Roll and my son was chatting on non-stop about visiting Miss Allyson. Miss Allyson really struck a cord in C; he is just so fond of her and it made for such a pleasant ride for this mama!
When we arrived, we went into the art room where there was lunch for the kids and moms to munch on during our talk from guest speaker Kelly Fisher, Ph.D. Dr. Fisher is a CiRCLE Postdoctoral Fellow at the Temple University Infant Laboratory “The Importance of Playful Learning in the 21st Century“. Amidst the pizza and juice boxes, Dr. Fisher provided some very important information regarding how children play and learn, and how play is crucial to their future creativity and problem solving skills in the future. She even read aloud some big named company job descriptions and related those back to how those qualities were developed at a young age through play. Amazingly insightful!
The moment we arrived, C was hovering by gym entrance. I should probably accentuate that more… he was really hovering. After lunch, we removed our shoes, cleansed our hands with ‘magic soap‘ and into the gym area we went! It was like he found freedom in that room!
We participated in a multi-age gym class. I was not really sure how that would work, but it would really be ideal if C (who is two and a half) and his younger brother B (who is 10 months old) were in the class together. The gym was set up so nicely with inflated animals, as part of the theme of the week, on the equipment. C immediately ran to the mats, and then we attempted to cross the monkey bars for the first time (that was funny) and play on a bar swing. Up and down and up and down… C was just all over the place and loving it! And then we found the basketball hoops and balls. It really is designed to span the ages and allow siblings to play together, or at least in the same room.
Once again, I have to give a stellar review to the Romp n’ Roll Willow Grove facility and employees!
