I was so excited to be part of the Delaware Beach Bloggin’ event this past weekend, which was held in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and organized by Mel from Mel’s Box of Chocolates and Delaware Beach Families, as well as Aubrey and Scott from Visit Southern Delaware. I’ve never been to a Delaware beach (I’m a Cape May girl myself by way of my grandmother’s beach house!), so this was a new experience to me. Not to mention, I was super excited to have a girls trip while my husband was home with our boys.
Let’s start out with the hotel: The Bellmoor Inn & Spa. I have never seen a beach resort hotel like this one in Jersey, that’s for sure! I kept commenting to my roommate Shannon from Chester County Moms that I couldn’t believe the decor and the size of the bathroom! Shannon and I worked and traveled together in our former business, and so we both have been to those little hotels with barely enough space to maneuver. The Bellmoor Hotel is definitely NOT your typical beach hotel! The beds were comfy, ample bathroom space, free wi-fi in room, a quaint little library off of the foyer and great meeting space. Oh, and breakfast included a made-to-order omelet bar… need I say more? CakeBreak provided some de-licious mini-cupcakes in our room, which was such a welcoming touch. Over all I would give this hotel 3 thumbs up (yes, you read that right, I’ve added an extra digit to rate this one!)
The Bellmoor is not only for lodging. It also houses a wonderful little Spa as well. I was lucky enough to take advantage of the spa while visiting, and got an oh-so-relaxing facial while there. I found the spa staff, as well as with the rest of the hotel, super happy to help and give recommendations to me for the local scene. The next morning I still felt like my skin was glowing, it was just baby soft and smooth and just felt wonderful!
That evening we had dinner at Dogfish Head Brewery. While my entire meal was delightful, I must point out two great items on the menu: First was the beer selection (it is a brewery after all!). I am not a frequent beer drinker since, until just a month ago, I’ve been pregnant and/or nursing since 2007. But, when at a brewery one must at least sample the drink! So, I took this wonderful opportunity to try out the Pale Ale, which was wonderfully smooth. It also paired well with my turkey burger and fries! Additionally, the “Great Beginnings” appetizer called the Warm Crab Dip was just to.die. for! I think you could have place 4 or 5 dishes of that app in front of me and I would have been one happy camper!
Later that evening we drove to The Movies at Midway theater to make use of their private screening room to watch Eat.Pray.Love. The idea of a movie theater having a private screening room is just the most brilliant concept ever. This is a great place to host a little get together, and watch a movie! A great idea of birthday parties or a girls night out! You can like them on Facebook to check out more information on this theater.
What trip to Rehoboth would be complete unless we hit the Tanger Outlets? We were in a time crunch when we started shopping, but we all managed to do some damage while there! My sons loved the Cars themed items I purchased for them at the Disney Outlet, a store we do not have at the outlets near me!
Our swag bags provided us with some great goodies, samples and coupons, Snyder’s Salt Water Taffy, and tshirts supporting Save Second Base. My trip to Rehoboth was such a great road trip, took about the same amount of time as it would have to my usual beach spot and just felt like a great, clean family town.
*Disclosure: I was invited to participate in DEBeachBloggin’ and received a free nights stay at the Bellmoor Hotel, free access to the private screening room at the Midway and some great swagbags, as well as discounted services throughout Rehoboth.
