WILLOW GROVE, PA—May 1 marks the return of one of Willow Grove’s most beloved traditions: The Willow Grove Loyalty Day Parade slated to commence at 2pm sharp. After a seven-year hiatus, the much anticipated event will be bigger than ever to help mark the community’s tri-centennial celebration. The organizers’ of the 2011 Loyalty Day Parade are assembling a strong and captivating group of participants to include the Riley Raiders Drum and Bugle Corp., Shriners, string bands, active and veteran color guards, police, fire and rescue units, scout groups, dignitaries, antique vehicles, floats, horses, marching bands and many others.
Marchers will assemble at the Regency Towers on Easton Road. The parade will proceed south down Easton Road from Fitzwatertown Road until it reaches the Willow Grove Park Mall. The family party kicks into high gear immediately following the parade with free fun, food and live music.
“In the past, Loyalty Day has proven to be a great time for families. Given recent worldwide events, Loyalty Day is certain to take on a deeper meaning. This community bonding celebration is particularly fitting to celebrate Willow Grove’s Tricentennial,” said Roger Myers, event organizer. Almost eight weeks of special events in Willow Grove are scheduled in conjunction with this 300-year milestone.
“Past Loyalty Day observances have been eagerly anticipated and well attended by the community,” stressed parade chairman Ralph Storti. “The public is encouraged to enjoy the day’s events while interacting with parade enthusiasts from near and far.”
