The Council for the Advancement of Public Schools suggests that all parents consider participating in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, April 28. A tradition for more than 18 years, this is a great real-world educational experience and a chance to share a special day with your children.
More than just a time to “shadow” an adult, this annual event shows children why education is so important and how their parents or mentors create a balance between work and family life. Talk to your company to see if they’re willing to participate and invite students who can’t participate with their parents, or have an interest in your profession, to join you and your children. Be sure to help children explore your entire company and different departments to get a well-rounded experience. You can find a guide here to help you plan out the day.
