Fishin’ for Beginners

Meet park ranger at the Deep Creek Pavilion in Green Lane Park and learn about basic aquatic ecology, fishing equipment and fishing techniques. Then take what you have learned to the water. Fishing rods, tackle and bait are available at no charge.
All ages, children need to be accompanied by an adult; free; you do not need a fishing license; meet at the pavilion on Snyder Road in Green Lane Park.

Visit the Children’s Heritage Garden for storytelling time related to the garden. Afterwards, see what we’ve planted and what is already growing.

Decorate the cover of a cardboard plant press that we provide you. Walk on the Nature Center grounds to collect spring flowers for pressing—a privilege not normally allowed. We’ll help you identify your finds. Learn about other flower preservation techniques.
