Have you heard of Gomu? I hadn’t (I apparently live in a cave!) and found out quickly that the Gomu erasers are all the rage in collectable erasers. Back in my day, I recall collecting different erasers and the fun it was to find some new ones (my favorite was a Gizmo eraser – boy did it pain me when I had to actually use his little ear to erase something on a test!). Apparently, more than two decades later, collectable erasers are still in style!
At under a $1, and with over 100 different Gomu to collect, the erasers will appeal to just about anyone. Add to that, each eraser is assigned a point value so that you can collect or trade based upon that assessment.
For example, my Gomu sample pack included the following erasers and corresponding point values:
Yellow Record Player: g70Blue and Yellow Scissors: g10
Green Hair Brush: g175
Grey Elephant: g300
Plus my 2 secret erasers were:
Purple drum set: g750
Yellow fish: g340
I like the concept of assigning the point value to each eraser. I can see this turning into a teaching tool with a child. As the collection grows, point values can be added also and the child can then figure out how much is needed in order to ‘trade’ one eraser for a few erasers (or vice versa).
You can buy Gomu erasers at most major retailers (check the list here). Or, just enter for your chance to win by filling out our form below!
