The back-to-school season is often filled with high hopes and ambitious goals. It’s a fresh start and a clean slate. It’s shiny, new and exciting.
This back-to-school season is a big one in our family. It’s really more of a first-to-school for us. My oldest is going to be in the 3 year old preschool program at our local church. It’s going to be a brave new world in our household this fall! We’re lucky in that the little girl around the corner is also attending with my son so that makes me feel better as he takes this big step to becoming a true preschooler.
I’m sure in years to come, the anxiety of back-to-school will shift from me to my son, but for now I’m the one waiting and wondering. What his first days in school will be like? Will he make many friends? Will he and his little girlfriend stick together? Will he enjoy learning in a school environment?
I have been trying to envision what that first day and those first few weeks will be like for him, and I keep picturing him running off with his friend and not looking back while his little brother watches (and most likely cries). I’m hopeful that he is excited for school, for new friends and for learning with an adult other than his mommy. We’ll make a big deal about his first day, of course. He’ll get to break in the cute dinosaur backpack that just arrived on our doorstep last week.
A few things that might come in handy for back to school are some Personalized Calling Cards (aka Mommy Cards). I don’t have anything to share with the moms of the new friends my son might make. I’m thinking the Posh Parent Card would be a great one. You can check out some of the other fun back-to-school product Tiny Prints offers for Kids, Teens, Parents and Teachers.
