We’ve all experienced it. The picky eaters. The “I’m not hungry” kids. And, of course, the last minute rush to figure out how to provide a wholesome meal to the family.
Sometimes dinners are just plain tough!
I remember celebrating when my oldest son opted to taste “curly noodles with red sauce”. In fact, I think I almost cried. He had been eating the same two meals for lunch and dinner for nearly 2 years. I was bored and I know he was bored. I dreaded mealtimes. One day something changed. Not sure what it was, and I’m not questioning it but, while still picky, he has about 5 different meals he will eat. I was so incredibly excited that he would eat Ragu because I had seen the labels stating that there were 2 servings of vegetables in each 1/2 cup of sauce. This was HUGE for us because that meant he was getting some of his much needed vegetable servings (probably not nearly an entire serving since he had just a little bit of sauce, but it was something)!
Ragu’s Facebook page is chock full of great mealtime tips, tricks and recipes. Join in the conversation about how to spice up dinner, or help another mom who may be experiencing the same tough mealtime challenges that you have been through. With my picky eater, I have been browsing the section on the subject. I found a great idea one mom shared about “putting sprinkles on everything… even hamburgers”. Never thought of that one but if gets my son to eat a meat product, I just may add it to the list.
The Facebook page also has some great videos to watch, such as the newest video posted titled “When Dinner Gets Tough“. There are some great tips about how to get through those tough mealtimes with family. I loved Audry McClelland‘s tip about making meal time fun and playing games. I know I get wrapped up in getting the meal out and eating, that I sometimes forget kids just want to have fun!
