11/11/11 is the day! Mad Mex Willow Grove is opening at 2862 W. Moreland Road. (in the same shopping center as CVS and Romp N’ Roll)
Mmmmmm, Mexican Food! I’ve always been a fan of food from south of the border; I mean, who didn’t love taco night growing up? When I found out that Willow Grove was getting a new Mexican restaurant I was excited, but when I found out it was a Mad Mex, I was ecstatic! As a Drexel alum, I loved myself some Mad Mex (for some reason we called it Mad 4 Mex, although I still don’t know why). Many a fun night began at Mad Mex, and now I’m looking forward to that same yummy food so very close to home!
Mad Mex has been advertising two seasonal burritos for Thanksgiving and Christmas for those who want their traditional meal with a Mexican flare. First up is The Gobblerito. Their description reads “The burrito-o-plenty—a whole Thanksgiving feast stuffed in a tortilla, is on a return flight to Mad Mex. Stuffed with turkey, mashed potatoes, bread stuffing, corn and gravy, with cranberry sauce on the side, this bulging beast has become our most popular seasonal burrito.
I personally am not a Thanksgiving meal fan but am willing to try anything; I’m sure everything tastes good with a perfect margarita!
Their second seasonal item is the Feast Navidad, with this description: “This bulging beasty just rolled in stuffed with slow cooked braised beef shortribs, roasted garlic-chili mashed potatoes, peas, baby carrots and pearl onions. It even comes with a dish of beef gravy on the side. Catch this festive dish while you can – Feasty only sticks around for the month of December.”
Mmmm, sounds like a Mexican style beef pot-pie!
If these are their holiday offerings, can you imagine what their everyday menu looks like? As soon as I get my chance to get in and eat there I will be sure to review and pass on what I have no doubt with be a good word! Check out their menu and mark your calendars! www.madmex.com/willowgrove.
