It’s a REAL night at the Museum! The Penn Museum’s popular “40 Winks for the Sphinx” sleepover program returns this fall, inviting kids 6-12 and their chaperones on an overnight “expedition” through cultures of the world in our international galleries. This unique experience, delighting visitors since 2009, was recently cited as one of the “can’t-miss museum sleepovers in the country” by Minitime Family Travel.
Young explorers spend the evening enjoying their choice of games, crafts, and other activities offered throughout the Museum—such as workshops on Egyptian hieroglyphs or Roman mosaics, colorful Origami folding lessons, basic Yoga classes, and more (specific activities vary from month to month). A scavenger hunt and a flashlight tour through the galleries reveal fun, mysterious facts about the Museum’s collection. Then, guests tuck in and spend the night under the watch of an ancient 15-ton Sphinx in our Egypt Gallery!
Registration is now OPEN for this unforgettable overnight experience, with nine dates open for registration from November through June 2015. Registration is $50 per guest ($40 for Penn Museum members), which also includes light breakfast, a souvenir patch, and free admission to explore the Museum the following day.
Guests should register early, as these programs sell out quickly! Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the Penn Museum like you’ve never seen it before. Visit the website for dates and more details.
