Montgomery Mall, owned by Simon, a global leader in retail real estate, announced today the addition of several family amenities to the property including a children’s play area and family restrooms, providing an added convenience to shoppers just in time for the holiday season.
Scheduled to open in mid-November, the seascape-themed children’s play area will be located in the Sears Court on the lower level of the property and will include custom designed elements to promote fun and exercise. The play area will boast several attractions including interactive play elements, age-specific zones, stroller parking and charging stations.
Construction on the adjacent family restroom is also underway and will offer two changing areas, a toddler toilet and a nursing lounge, providing an added convenience to customers with young families.
“The children’s play area and family restrooms are welcome additions to the property,” said Jack Fazio, Montgomery Mall Manager. “Montgomery Mall attracts thousands of families from across the region and we are extremely proud to be able to offer our shoppers even more specialized amenities to ensure their time spent at the mall is enjoyable, convenient and stress free.”
Since early 2014, the mall has embarked on a multimillion-dollar renovation project, focusing on a redesigned exterior and entrances, refreshed retail spaces, a new escalator, and upgraded lighting and hardscape. Renovation work is slated for completion in Spring 2015.
Within the past year, the center has welcomed a number of new tenants including popular global footwear brand Clarks, accessory and jewelry specialist Icing, upscale full-service threading salon New York Thread and made-to-order sandwich hub SUBWAY®. These brands are the latest openings in a long list of new retailers to join Montgomery’s retail roster over the past several months, including Francesca’s, Spencer’s Gifts, Street Corner News and VisionWorks. Among current tenants, leading specialty jewelry brand Kay Jewelers expanded its retail space and re-opened in August 2014 near the Elevator Court.
Banana Republic and Ann Taylor will open in November 2014, just in time for the holiday season. In 2015, J. Jill, Justice & Brothers, Zoë’s Kitchen and Grub Burger Bar will be added to the tenant mix.
These additions are coming on the heels of November 2013’s grand opening of a 126,000-square-foot Wegmans grocery store, which advanced the shopping center as a one-stop shopping destination for the community.
