Disclaimer: I was provided a pair of pediped shoes to facilitate this review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Whether you’re a grown woman or a new walker, finding the perfect shoe is a lot like searching for the Holy Grail. For children that begin walking on the earlier side, the process is even more frustrating since most walking shoes aren’t made for such tiny feet.
My son Maddox rolled over as a newborn, crawled at 5 months and started pulling himself up to a standing position at 7.5 months. OMG. By 8.5 months he was taking a few hesitant steps and now as a 9 month-old, he is eager to be a full-time walker. As a mother to a rambunctious 2 year-old as well, I’ve been
drinking a lot mentally preparing myself for the day when both kids were fully mobile. Well, that day is almost here.
Between the cold Pennsylvania weather and Maddox’s determination to be on his feet at all times, the search for that elusive pair of shoes began in late November. I wanted a shoe that provided durability, warmth and support while also measuring up to Maddox’s style standards. What can I say? The kid’s a sharp dresser. Conveniently, it was around this time that I was asked to review a pair of pedipeds. When that itty-bitty purple shoe box arrived, I was delighted to find a high-quality soft-soled shoe in size 6-12 months tucked inside. Faaaaaaaaantastic.
The style of shoe we received, ‘Justin’, is from the Originals line. Originals are designed for crawlers and new walkers, and are available in sizes 0-24 months. The black, brown and charcoal boots are probably the exact pair Maddox and I would have chosen ourselves. They’re made from genuine leather for durability and feature a breathable lining, Velcro closure and slip-resistant leather tread. Most importantly, they fit Maddox’s tiny little feet perfectly and look great at the same time!
The beauty of pedipeds is that they provide proper support for developing feet and ankles, while also allowing much-needed flexibility for new walkers. The soft sole of the Originals line mimics barefoot walking, making pedipeds the perfect transitional shoe for crawlers and walkers. Similarly, the Grip ‘n Go and Flex shoe lines each have special features that benefit toddlers and kids respectively.
As a mom, I appreciate the craftsmanship in this pair of shoes, not to mention how adorable they are on the Little Dude’s feet. In just a few short months, they’ve received quite a bit of use but miraculously show zero signs of wear. They look just as new as they did when I opened that tiny little shoe box a few months ago. I am so impressed with their quality that I fully intend to buy
my current and any future children one in every color a pair for my daughter as well!
So while I continue my own search for the Perfect Pair, at least I can rest assured that my little guy has found his – the pediped.
