Grocery stores are full of ‘healthy’ and ‘nutritious’ food for kids. Sadly, many of them are actually crammed full of sugar, artificial sweeteners, trans fats, artificial coloring, sodium and countless other scary ingredients that I can’t actually pronounce. As a parent, it’s fairly terrifying to learn some of the unhealthy, and sometimes even toxic (yes, it’s true), ingredients found in trusted name brand baby foods.
Luckily, there are several brands on the market that offer a safe, terror-free alternative to the sometimes scary mainstream brands. Montco Moms, I am thrilled to introduce you to Happy Family Organic Superfoods.
If you haven’t heard of Happy Family yet, you (and your hungry little ones) are in for a real treat. Happy Family
originated as a minimally processed organic baby food brand, but soon expanded to include food for toddlers, kids and (hooray!) even adults. Founded and run by mothers, Happy Family foods are created using only the highest quality organic ingredients. Incorporating superfoods like kale, amaranth, coconut and quinoa, moms can rest assured that Happy Family foods are made with their family’s best interests in mind. While I typically make all of my kids’ food, I also like to keep some snacks and ’emergency meals’ on hand for when my toddler would rather fling her food across the room than eat what I’ve prepared for her. As an ingredient-conscious mom, I find the Happy Family line of foods endlessly exciting.
My kiddos and I were eager to test Happy Family’s Happiest Baby Package for this review. Here’s a rundown of the items we tried:
Happy Yogis (Blueberry & Purple Carrot)
Happy Puffs (Strawberry)
Happy Creamies (Strawberry, Raspberry & Carrot)
Happy Munchies Rice Cakes (Apple)
Happy Family Teething Wafers (Blueberry & Purple Carrot)
Happy Baby Food Pouch (Spinach, Mango & Pear and Apple, Raspberry, Amaranth & Kale)
I taste tested everything along with my munchkins, and let me just say…..this food is delicious. In fact, I wasn’t too thrilled about having to share the Apple Rice Cakes with my kids. Miller (my picky one) and Maddox (my constantly hungry one) gobbled up their snacks with gusto, and begged for ‘More, please!’. They were particularly fond of the Happy Yogis, Happy Creamies, Happy Puffs…..well, all of it. Each product we tried was packed with flavor and chock full of awesome ingredients like chia, Vitamin D, choline, DHA, and probiotics. The flavor combinations are especially unique when compared to other mainstream brands (Hello, amaranth!) and the different textures, shapes, and (natural) colors kept my kids interested in their food. My teething son also found the rice cakes and teething wafers particularly helpful in soothing his sore little gums.
Aside from Happy Family’s great variety of delicious (and unique) flavor combinations, exciting textures, and quality ingredients, they also win points for affordability. While organic baby foods are more expensive than non-organics, Happy Family products were almost 20 cents cheaper than other organic brands at my local grocery store. Healthier diets are inevitably more expensive, but my peace of mind is worth the additional cost. Knowing that organic foods in BPA-free packaging are available at affordable prices is equally reassuring.
From quality, variety, taste and cost, Happy Family Organic Superfoods win across the board. If you’re interested in trying Happy Family foods for yourself, enter our giveaway below! You can also visit Happy Family on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and on their website.
