It may not seem like it now, but
the infernal frozen hell we are living in winter will soon melt away to reveal a beautiful, sunny spring. With that in mind, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite baby & kid gear items perfect for the family getaways we’ve been planning all winter long!
FREE LIKE BIRDIE LUGGAGE
With luggage designed to make traveling with children not only bearable, but enjoyable, Free Like Birdie is the traveling family’s best friend. Creator Rania Kfuri has created a line of unique organizational travel products that take the stress out of packing and make staying organized while traveling a piece of cake. From compact travel blankets in zip up pouches to Quick Change travel bags, the Free Like Birdie line embraces the philosophy that traveling with kids doesn’t have to be a challenge. Your time should be spent making memories, not trying to find something in a disorganized suitcase!
The kids and I tried out the adorable, bright green Weekender Bag. With a zippered (and clearly labeled) compartment on one side for clean clothes, and another, separate zippered (also clearly labeled) compartment for dirty clothes, the Weekender Bag keeps clothes organized AND makes doing laundry a breeze when you get home. Not only is this bag perfect for longer vacations, it’s also great for weekend trips, day visits and with a waterproof interior, even trips to the beach or pool. Whenever we go to Grandma’s for dinner, I pack the kids’ spare clothes and pajamas in their Weekender bag. If one of the kids needs a costume change, or if they put on their pjs at different times, clean clothes and dirty clothes remain separate and organized. And we all know I love staying organized! 🙂
MOTHER LOAD BAGS
If you’re familiar with my diaper bag pouch system, you can imagine how thrilled I was to discover Mother Load Bags. Mom and creator Zara Merbaum developed the Mother Load system after her son was born. Disappointed with the variety of diaper bags on the market, Zara began using her own totes and purses as diaper bags, keeping her baby gear organized with large ziplock baggies. Eventually, Zara developed the Mother Load system, which turns ANY bag into an organized and highly efficient diaper bag. Color-coded and clearly labeled with embroidered icons for Clean Clothes, Dirty Clothes, Toys, Snacks and Diapers, Mother Load bags are not only practical, but adorable too.
Obviously I feel a special kinship with someone who values organization as much as I do, so I was thrilled to give the Mother Load system a try! The bags translated well to both my Skip Hop Duo Double and Pacapod diaper bags, as well as my large tote style purse. Keeping everything packed into bags also makes transitioning from one diaper bag to another super easy, and also allows you to grab just what you need for a quick trip out rather than bringing an entire diaper bag. Color-coding thrills me (nerd alert!) and I appreciated how easy it was to quickly distinguish one bag from another in my purse or diaper bag (my kids quickly learned that yellow = snacks). I loved the various sizes of the bags, and how easily they could stretch to accommodate my kids’ things. Constructed of soft, stretchy, see-through mesh and lined with colorful, water-resistant nylon, the bags can stretch to fit just about anything. Trust me. You can fit a lot into those little suckers. AND they’re machine washable, which is a huge plus.
The Mother Load system has now been fully incorporated into our life on-the-go. Whether we’re on vacation or running to the grocery store, we’re never without our Mother Load!
Montco Moms wants you to experience this fantastic organizational system as well, so we’ve teamed up with Zara & Mother Load for a giveaway! Enter the contest below for your chance to win a full set of Mother Load bags!
BITYBEAN BABY CARRIER
Let me just say it. I’m obsessed with the Bitybean. After two kids and multiple carriers, I’ve finally found my baby carrier soul mate. The Bitybean is an itty bitty baby carrier that, when folded into its nifty storage bag, is about the size of a can of Diet Coke (my kryptonite). Perfect for both babies and toddlers up to 40 pounds, the Bitybean is truly the world’s most compact carrier. The carrier can be worn on the front or back, and provides plenty of support despite its small size. It’s made of lightweight (and quick dry) nylon and polyester, which offer plenty of comfort and also make it perfect for wearing baby in water!
I’ve worn my Bitybean all over Philadelphia and New York (even in the Lizard Lagoon at Sahara Sam’s), and of all the carriers I’ve tried, this one is by far my favorite. No buckles I can’t reach. No yards of fabric I have to fold, twist and drape. No large, bulky carrier that won’t fit into the diaper bag. The Bitybean is incredibly easy to use, super comfortable for Mom (or Dad) and child, insanely portable, and easy to clean. Prior to the Bitybean, I had to plan how I’d tote my kids around ahead of time. Do I want to use the double stroller, which may not be easy to maneuver around where we’re going, or should I wear Maddox and push Miller in the single? But what if Maddox is already asleep in the car seat? I don’t want to wake up him when I put him in the carrier, so he could snap into the single stroller. But then Miller would have to walk, and will inevitably want to be carried. Then I’m holding a toddler and pushing a stroller. Or I could put the car seat in the shopping cart and Miller in the toddler seat….but then there’s no room for groceries. But now, friends, the world is my oyster. I love being able to tuck my Bitybean in the diaper bag to use if I need it when we’re out and about. Great for on the go (or even just doing some vacuuming at home when the Little Dude wants to be held), the Bitybean is a baby carrying game-changer.
M.L. CAMPEAU CHILDREN’S BLANKET
Chicago-based M.L. Campeau offers a wonderful variety of blankets beautifully designed to suit your little one’s needs. Perfect for chilly springtime walks, evening strolls on the boardwalk, naps in the car and hotel stays, our M.L. Campeau blanket is our all-time favorite for bringing along on-the-go. From M.L. Campeau’s ‘Gabee Baby’ collection, the blanket is made of soft minky and sized perfectly for my Little Man. It even has an itty bitty pocket for small toys and treasures…or in my son’s case, Cheerios. Aside from its snack storing capabilities, Maddox loves snuggling up with his soft blanket in his carseat or stroller.
M.L. Campeau also offers three additional collections: the Cashmere Collection, the Heritage Collection which features stunning wool blankets, and the Outdoor Collection which blends wind and rain resistant material with soft (and warm) fleece. Each material is hand-picked for its vibrancy, fiber quality and thickness, and the result is a truly gorgeous line of heirloom quality blankets.
In addition to the blanket’s softness and warmth, I also really admire its quality. Triple stitched to ensure durabity, I have no doubt that Maddox’s M.L. Campeau blanket will last him through many adventures…and maybe one day he will snuggle his own baby up in its warmth. Sniff.
