In case you missed it, I love Alice Bakery & Confectionary. My kids and I had a wonderful experience at ABC in North Wales a few months ago, and I’ve been going through some major ABC withdrawal ever since. The shakes, cold sweats…the whole nine yards. Luckily, Alice recently opened a second location in Ambler, which means I have double the opportunities to stuff my face full of glorious breads and desserts. And soups. And sandwiches. And yummy coffee. And amazing salad dressings. Oh, Alice…
ABC’s new location is located right on the corner of Butler Ave and Ridge Street in the heart of Ambler. The new location is really beautiful, and I don’t just mean the dessert display (though that’s definitely a highlight). My kids and I visited Alice for an early lunch, and were greeted warmly and seated quickly on arrival. My daughter picked out which cupcake she’d like to eat for lunch (Yeah, that’s right. I let her have a cupcake for lunch.) and I perused the lunch menu. I chose a soup and salad combo: tomato bisque and a B.L.A.T. (bacon lettuce avocado and tomato). Our meal was served quickly, and devoured even more quickly.
Now I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a bit of a B.L.A.T. connoisseur. I’ve sampled B.L.A.T.s the world over, and I can say in complete honesty and with total certainty that ABC’s version is in the top three. And I’m talking globally. Maybe it’s the phenomenal freshly made bread. Maybe it’s the perfectly cooked bacon or the fresher than fresh veggies. Maybe it’s the perfect ratio of mayonnaise to bread. Regardless, ABC’s B.L.A.T. hits the nail right on the head. My kids enjoyed their nibbles of my sandwich as well. And I mean nibbles. I love my kids more than anything, but with a sandwich that yummy it is really difficult for me to share.
The tomato bisque was equally delicious, and my bowl was empty in the blink of an eye. Once again, I had to fight off the urge to lick my bowl clean. For the sake of propriety, I refrained. My daughter, however, INHALED her cupcake (luckily I was able to sneak a bite before it was gone – yummmmmm) and actually DID try to lick her plate clean. Thank you, Alice, for providing me an opportunity to teach my daughter about acceptable mealtime behavior!
We were very impressed with Alice’s new location and delighted with our yummy lunch. The location is lovely, the food is delicious and the menu is very reasonably priced (our entire lunch cost $13). I’m thrilled for Dennis and the ABC crew on their continued success. I really can’t say this enough, but do yourself a favor and go grab lunch at Alice Bakery & Confectionary…and be sure to save room for a cupcake…or two.
