Kids will be getting free haircuts at Smith Playground’s “Back to School Bazaar” this Saturday – as long as they read a book to the barber. In an effort to get more children reading with their parents and in their homes, the READ! by 4th initiative has donated about 200 new children’s books to be given to children who participate in the event. Children can read a book that they brought with them, any book from Smith’s library room, or one of the new books. Once they do, the barbers Shaina Aliberti and Shakey Lyman will get them looking their best for the new school year with a free back-to-school haircut.
The Back to School Bazaar offers families and vendors the opportunity to buy, sell, or trade school supplies, clothes, and other back to school necessities. Any unsold items will be donated to Cradles to Crayons. The Bazaar will take place from 12:00-3:00 p.m.
Press may film and take pictures at the event.
