I’ve got a fever. Baby fever. I love babies. I love shopping for babies. I love baby gear. I love baby gadgets. And that’s when I’m not pregnant. I’m currently expecting identical twins, and my baby fever is in serious overdrive. I pretty much started nesting the second I saw that second pink line, and by 12 weeks the hospital bag was packed and nursery was painted, decorated and ready for babies. You can imagine my delight when I discovered The Baby Cubby, a beautifully curated online store carrying a gorgeous selection of baby necessities and fun little extras. You want the best, safest, highest quality and most adorable products for your child, and The Baby Cubby is the perfect place to find them.
Based in Lindon, Utah, The Baby Cubby is both a physical store and an online shopping experience. Both the physical and online stores are designed with special consideration for parents and babies. This may seem like a given for business specializing in baby goods, but the more you explore The Baby Cubby, the more you’ll come to understand that each product truly IS selected with love and care. From their mission statement and their in-store events to their charity work and the lengths they go to support and encourage parents, The Baby Cubby really IS a special company. It’s more than a store – it’s an inspiring community for parents and families (check out their blog and resource guides). To top it all off, The Bubby Cubby carries the most unbelievable collection of products that are selected only after hours of research and hands on product testing (they have a stroller track – no lie). When you shop at The Baby Cubby, you know you’re getting the absolute best for your baby.
With The Baby Cubby, creating a baby registry couldn’t be easier -or more fun – because their exhaustive research has taken the guesswork out of choosing the perfect products for you and your baby. Yes, you’ll need the basics – crib, stroller, car seat (all of which you can find at The Baby Cubby) – but you’ll need lots of other items too. Here are my picks for filling in the gaps and creating the Ultimate Baby Registry.
One of the best things I received at my first baby shower wasn’t even something I had on my registry, but something I’ve recommended to expecting friends ever since. A large, washable, compact outdoor blanket is an absolute must for any parent. This outdoor blanket from Little Unicorn comes complete with carrying strap for ultimate portability, and is perfect for outdoor play time, picnics, beach trips, July 4th fireworks outings – you name it! I’ve gotten endless use out of my outdoor blanket. Trust me, you need one!
While all babies are different and each have their own preferred way to find comfort, you can pretty much expect that at some point your child will grow attached to a security blanket. My son was almost fifteen months before he fell in love with his blankie, and he’s slept with it every night since. I love how he falls asleep gently playing with the soft satin edges of his blanket, and if he stirs at night his hand automatically searches for his blankie. Not only is it sweet, but it’s important that a child learns to self soothe, and a security blanket like this from Little Unicorn (can you tell this is one of my favorite brands?) is a perfect option. Made from soft, snuggly muslin and go-to satin edge, this blanket set is the perfect addition to your registry. Also, dinosaurs are awesome and in my book, gender neutral. I will DEFINITELY need to pick up this blanket set for the twins!
Swaddling blankets are a given when it comes to preparing for Baby, but I can guarantee you that you will not find a softer blanket that this one from KicKee Pants. Honestly, it’s like it was woven from unicorn hair by magical fairies. If they made them in adult sizes, you better believe I’d be swaddled up to my neck right now. I promise you – this is the swaddle blanket to end all swaddle blankets. To top it off, it’s available in a variety of fun, modern prints.
In addition to traditional swaddle blankets, you’ll probably want to register for a few no-fuss swaddle wraps as well. These are great for the middle of the night when you are so tired that you have no idea what day or time it is, what your name is or where this fussing baby came from…let alone how to master a perfect, escape-free swaddle with a regular blanket. This swaddle from Ergobaby takes the thought out of midnight swaddling. It couldn’t be easier to use, plus it’s made from super soft terry that your baby will love. And the sheep. Oh, the sheep.
I’ll admit I have an extreme diaper bag addiction. Diaper bags are just giant mom purses, and just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style for the sake of practicality. You wouldn’t do that for your purse, would you? Now, I would never buy another woman a purse, and I certainly wouldn’t dream of telling you what diaper bag is best for your needs. Like a purse, a diaper bag is a deeply personal decision, and The Baby Cubby has a fantastic variety of purses to suit every kind of mom and every kind of lifestyle. When my twins arrive, I’ll have four kids under four, so free hands will surely be a thing of the past. A backpack diaper bag will be the perfect option for me, and this messenger bag with removable backpack straps from Ju Ju Be combines style and functionality. It’s a win/win.
When you’re a mom, you learn to love anything that can serve multiple purposes. I’ve become fixated on this fabulous leather mat from Gathre for exactly that reason. Under high chair splat mat? Check! Craft time activity mat? Check! On the go diaper changing mat? Check! Tummy time mat? Check! The uses are endless, plus it is made from ultra-wipeable bonded leather for easy cleaning and compact storage. Boom.
Babies need toys, and the safer those toys the better. These darling wooden teethers from Little Sapling are made from non-splintering maple and are naturally anti-bacterial, non-allergenic, and non-toxic so you don’t have to worry about your baby chewing on something made with harmful ingredients. Also, they’re ADORABLE and come in a ton of whimsical designs!
4Moms is known for creating tech savvy solutions to everyday baby predicaments. Let’s just say this ain’t your grandma’s spout cover. Not only does it protect your little one’s noggin from bath time bumps, it also shows the water’s temperature on the digital display as you fill your tub. Easy to clean and easy to install, this high-tech spout cover is a no-brainer.
I almost listed just the Tubby Todd Bubble Bath, but thought better of it and added the 6-Piece Gift Set instead. Truth be told, you should really just go ahead and add EVERY SINGLE Tubby Todd product ever invented to your registry. This is a fabulous brand featuring a variety of super safe, non-toxic products for the whole family. Everything smells absolutely amazing and works wonders. This baby gift set includes Hair & Body Wash, Dream Cream, Lotion, Bubble Bath, Baby Fresh Spray, and All Over Ointment. It’ll have your littles squeaky clean and feeling fresh in no time.
Keep your kiddos safe during bath time with these bath tub treads from Puj. A pack of six is enough to cover your entire tub and safely prevent slipping and falling. They’re easy to remove and even easier to install, plus the watercolor pattern is really pretty!
Continuing with the bath time trend, this darling towel and wash cloth combo from Little Unicorn is another ‘must add’ to your registry. Brightly colored, super soft and highly absorbent, this is THE TOWEL for wrapping your sweet baby in post-bath. Both the towel and wash cloth have Little Unicorn’s trademark muslin on one side and soft, snuggly terry on the other, making this bath set one of my absolute favorites.
The EZPZ Mini Mat is one of my all time favorite feeding products. Great for using at home or on the go, this foldable, non-toxic silicone feeding mat is the perfect answer to messy eaters and/or children who feel that plates and frisbees fall into the same category. Not only is it cute and colorful with its bright color and smiley face design, it’s also highly practical. The curves and slopes of the smiley bowl help children learn to scoop and self-feed, and the separate compartments remind parents to offer a variety of foods at meal times. The flexible material makes it both easy to store AND easy to take on the go. It even comes with a washable carry bag!
New eaters are messy. Real messy. The fact of the matter is that during meals, a regular bib just doesn’t cut it. In the interest of preserving your child’s wardrobe, try this awesome sleeved bib from Bumkins. Complete with full length sleeves and a crumb (or more realistically, 80% of your kid’s meal) catching pocket at the bottom, this bib is a mommy must-have. It’s also super lightweight and easy to clean. Sounds like the perfect bib to me!
Another fantastic product that serves multiple functions are these awesome burpy bib sets from Aden + Anais. Burp cloths are an obvious addition to any registry, but Aden + Anais makes some of the highest quality, most absorbent muslin burp cloths on the market. This style offers the added bonus of also being a bib. The curved shape and tiny snaps convert this burp cloth into an adjustable feeding bib, perfect for nursing or bottle feeding. Brilliant.
If this selection of amazing products isn’t enough to make you explore The Baby Cubby, you should also know that TBC offers free shipping for orders over $49, price matching (yes, even Amazon!) and a 10% discount if you sign up for their newsletter!
